A Totally Different Project! A Mantel!

Unknown
Well, here's a project that has NOTHING to do with drawing or painting! My good friend and I endeavored recently to beautify my home a bit further (with some urging from my good wife), with a mantel for the fireplace.

Interesting fact: mantel is a called a chimneypiece in Britain.

Anyways, I think it turned out fairly well. Judge for yourselves!

Yee-Haw! Photo Booth Decorations

Unknown
We had a rip-roarin' time at the New Year's Eve-Eve party this year! It was a patriotic western theme and I was asked to paint these boots as part of the decorations. They are about 4.5 ft tall and made of OSB plywood. Not the best surface to paint, but it was fun!

Two Window Paintings

Unknown
Here are a couple of reclaimed windows that I painted last week. One was for my cousin, who gave it to her sister for a gift, and the other was for my aunt who will be also ordering three others to match each of the other seasons.

This one is called Winter.

This one was the gift:

Digital Paintings

Unknown
With the inclement weather here in Ohio this weekend, I had a bit more time on my hands than normal. This gave me an excellent opportunity to play with a new app I recently downloaded, Adobe Sketch. Using an iPad Pro 12.9" and an Apple Pencil, I created the following paintings:

This was a fun exercise and my first attempt at digital painting. I may have to do this more often! :)

Throwback Thursday! Fire Safety Trailer from 2003

Unknown
Was looking through some old pictures this week and I came across this job that I did for the City of Bellefontaine's Fire Department back in 2003. Wow! 13 years ago, can you believe how time flies? As some have said, time flies when you're having fun, but as frogs say, Time's fun when you're having flies!

Silly jokes aside (I am a dad, therefore authorized, and actually required, to tell dumb jokes), here's hoping you enjoy some artwork from the archives. This was hand lettered with One-Shot lettering enamel. They are still using this trailer 13 years later... I think we need to redo this one! :)

Queen Bee Emroideree Logo

Had a chance to design a couple more logos recently, this being one of them. The other one is not available for public release as of yet.

Meanwhile, check out the new logo for Queen Bee Embroideree!

Truck Prop for 2016 Autumn Banquet Photos

Unknown
I was asked by the Young People's leaders to create a fun prop for photos at the Senior's Autumn Banquet at church. The direction was simple: teal, truck, pumpkins...

Drawing the design on 1/4" underlayment board
 Jigsaw work is finished!
 Pumpkin detail.
 Chrome wheels anyone?
More chrome on the bumper and headlights
 Testing the alignment.
More testing, this time with the background in place as well as some accouterments of fall in the foreground.
